The Mission Continues After Service

Working K9s are discipline under pressure, loyalty without hesitation, and precision when it matters most.

 

These dogs deploy when called. They track what others cannot. They locate narcotics, pursue suspects, and provide a controlled, non-lethal option that protects both officers and the public. Every deployment reflects years of partnership between handler and dog.

 

The work is demanding. K9s absorb impact with their bodies. They suffer lacerations, broken bones, gunshot wounds, and long-term orthopedic strain. Some return home injured. Some give their lives in service.

 

What many people don’t realize is that ongoing medical care is not automatically covered after retirement. In many cases, handlers and nonprofit foundations carry that responsibility.

 

The Shepherd Vault exists to honor these dogs beyond their final shift.

 

20% of every Legends Line purchase and 5% of all other products are donated to the Larimer Retired K9 Foundation, supporting medical care and long-term needs for retired working K9s.
