The Slovakian Calibration

Imported from Slovakia in 2016, Taz was selected from dozens of candidates. While others showed intensity and agility, Taz was the perfect mix of size and drive. Between evaluations, he would spin relentlessly in his kennel, not out of anxiety, but out of a desperate need for the next mission.

Field Note

"Taz was the clear standout, built for the job."

How He Earned His Name

During a window-entry exercise, Taz finished his scenario and was crated. As the next dog began, Taz forced his crate door open and launched himself back through that same window, unprompted. He didn't need direction. He understood the work.

The TAZ Standard

He didn't just follow orders; he owned the mission.

"From 2016 to 2022, Taz worked with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and was responsible for countless suspect locations. His relentless drive to work was unmistakable."

The Haystack Extraction

After a vehicle pursuit, the suspects fled on foot into a large farm property. Taz ran a building search of a garage and found items they'd left behind, then tracked from the garage to the house, and on to a large stack of hay bales. Released on an area search, he began alerting on the hay bales. Even though nothing was visible, his relentless behavior made it clear that someone was there. Taz ultimately located one of the suspects about six feet up inside a narrow crack in the stack, jumped, pulled him down by the foot, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Mission Profile: The Hay Bale Hunt

Taz tracked a suspect to a stack of hay, alerted on a target concealed six feet up, and secured custody.

The 12-Foot Leap

Recalled from an upper level during certification, Taz ignored the stairs. He chose the direct route: a 12-foot jump to his handler. He landed with such force it left a dent in the ground, but he rose uninjured. His loyalty was absolute.

Beyond the Badge

Taz’s career was shaped by a Handler who understood his drive, trusted his instincts, and never asked him to do work they would not stand behind. That bond is built over years of repetition and mutual accountability.

"K9s aren't just dogs. They're front-line operators who step into harm's way for their partners, again and again, driven by loyalty that doesn't hesitate."
